Scholarship Information
Annually, our chapter provides scholarships to deserving high school seniors entering college or university. To date, we have awarded over $620,000 in scholarships to students in the Los Angeles and South Bay area. The Palos Verdes Links scholarship award varies from year to year and award amounts are contingent upon the funding from the current year.
These competitive scholarships are based on the students’ academic achievement, community service, extra-curricular activities, recommendations and financial need. As an organization we promote academic activities for historically underserved students. Criteria:
African American or of African descent
High School Senior
Applicant must enroll in an accredited 2 year of 4-year institution in the Spring of 2023.
Students are from the following high schools:
Carson High School, King/Drew Magnet High School, Narbonne High School, New Millennium Secondary School, Palos Verdes High School, Palos Verdes Peninsula High School, Port of Los Angeles High School (POLA) and San Pedro High School
Application submission opens March 1st and closes March 31st. There are two (2) options for submission:
*Application for graduating high school seniors.
1) Online submission.
2) Download and complete application.
*Application for those who have previously received a Links Scholarship.

If you are not completing an application online, you may scan and upload the completed application through the website.
Mail completed application; picture (headshot); two (2) letters of recommendation from (1) a person on staff at high school and one (1) a person outside of high school; and a signed photograph release form; a 1-page personal statement/essay including career goals.
An official transcript must be mailed sealed by your high school and unbroken to:

Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Must be a graduating high school senior
2. Must be accepted into an accredited community college, 4-year college or university
3. Must be African-American or of African descent
4. Must have demonstrated a willingness to make a positive contribution to their community as a
leader
5. Must be a U.S. Citizen
A complete application must include:
• Brief personal essay (no more than one page) on the below topic:
How will college help you give back to your community?
• An attached photo (senior picture or headshot preferred)
• An official high-school transcript
• One letter from a person on staff at your high school from a person on staff (counselor or professor) at your college/university regarding your contributions to campus life/activities
• One letter from a person outside of your high school (cannot be a relative of the applicant)
• Signed photograph release form (download here)

Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. . Must be attending an accredited community college, 4-year college or university and not graduating before Spring 2023 (except for community college students who are transferring to a 4-year school)
2. Must have received a scholarship from The Palos Verdes Chapter of The Links, Incorporated as a high school senior to be eligible
3. Must be African-American or of African descent
4. Updated photo
A complete application must include:
• Official transcript (showing current semester’s courses)
• Letter of recommendation from a person on staff (counselor or professor) at your
college/university regarding your contributions to campus life/activities
• Brief essay on the below topic:
